"My Childhood Home": Postcard

I wrote this poem for my parents in 2021.

I had just given birth to my third son in 3 years, and I felt that there was no gift, no card, nothing I could possibly buy to thank them enough for their help that year. Christmas is a time when we strive to express gratitude through physical gifts. But what I learned that year was that in the end, my words were enough. I offer this poem as a postcard for anyone who can relate to this feeling and wants to thank their parents for continuing to create a space of loving support while watching their own children navigate the waters of parenthood themselves.
