Our Home: A Custom Bar

Interior Designer: Ellie MAC Designs

Carpenter: Plowman Custom Cabinetry

My husband and I like to Drink.

Which is why, when we moved into our new home a year ago, Colin Proclaimed “…and we’ll build a bar hERE!”

In my head, this would be something we had done years down the road- this was our forever home after all.

But no, it was the first order of business (well, second, if you count the actual moving in part).

I had my first phone call with the lovely lady you see here, Ellie McIntosh (Ellie MAC Designs), just a few weeks after we moved in.

I had been searching for an interior designer and also a muralist. It turns out, Ellie is bOTH!

Ellie starts as a designer and ends as a friend. Her passion, natural talent, and attention to detail are what she’s known for but in my opinion her impeccable taste is what sets her apart from anyone I’ve ever met. I knew from our first phone call that she wasn’t like all the other designers, and that’s what made her stand out as the one for us. She genuinely wants to deliver something that has never been done before for every one of her clients. Because of her, our home is a work of art.

- My (Gushing) Review

Ellie and I had so much fun working together. An an artist hiring an artist, there was a level of respect and understanding that flowed like water between the two of us.

Which is why we had to do this fun photoshoot to celebrate the New bar!

Ellie and I have a similar fashion Aesthetic, so I already knew she had the right outfit for our shared vision.

Right on cue, she showed up with a car full of props and we set to work. Revivalist spirits helped us out with the gorgeous bottles, and I was trying not to squeal behind the camera watching it all come together… In my own home no less!!

Here’s the next glowing review: Andrew, of Plowman Custom Cabinetry KILLED IT!!! In a fun small world fact: he’s married to someone I went to high school with! If that isn’t a sign from the universe that we are all connected and hey be nice to everyone (even in high school) than I don’t know what is!

But seriously, He is THE.NICEST.GUY.EVER.

Andrew is an absolute pleasure to work with! He is that rare combination of reliability, kindness, and skill. I would recommend him to anyone and everyone I know, and having his craftsmanship on display in our home is something I cherish every time I look at it.
